If you want a secluded beach where you probably won't run into anyone else then this might be your beach. Unfortunately, secluded in this case quite literally means out in the middle of nowhere and getting to the middle of nowhere means a long 4x4 only journey.

To some, this will be an unforgettable journey and create lasting memories. For others, especially those who don't like heights and feeling like that next slope will most certainly flip your Jeep over, well, you're about to enter a horrible place.

It's hard to describe the road here but we're talking unnaturally steep slopes, huge potholes in deeply rutted roads, and more bumps than your butt thought it would see in a lifetime. Those with bad backs shouldn't even attempt this drive.

If you aren't sure there is a good test. Pack your Jeep (or other capable 4x4) with plenty of food, water, and supplies to be safe because you are heading out to a place where you may not see anyone else and likely won't have a cell signal. Head to Garden of the Gods / Keahiakawelo and if you didn't have any problems with that part of the journey (which is half way to Polihua Beach) then you can simply continue on. It's worth noting that the roads actually get a bit worse after Garden of the Gods / Keahiakawelo!

If you make it you'll be rewarded with spectacular views and probably have the huge sandy beach to yourself. Swimming here can be dangerous due to the strong winds and currents so proceed with extreme caution considering there is nobody here to help you out of trouble.
