Kincaid's is located in the Ward Warehouse of Ward Village shopping area right at the north east side of the Ward Avenue and Ala Moana Blvd intersection. Park anywhere in the Ward Warehouse parking lot and head up to the second shopping level (or park on the 3rd floor of the parking garage for same level access).

When we first walked in it felt like Kincaid's was pretty old and outdated inside. Like a steakhouse that was a decade passed its prime. It is very clean inside and plenty bright with a long set of table side windows that have a very nice view of the boat harbor and ocean. This place packs in a good lunch crowd of shoppers and business people alike but seems to be able to accommodate a lot of customers.

We were seated quickly and our server arrived quite quickly as well. The complimentary garlic buttered bread they serve is delicious! For lunch, we ordered a French dip sandwich and the butterfish entree they were offering. The food came out quickly and the French dip sandwich was delicious though quite small for it's $15 price and not really loaded with meat.

The butterfish cost around $26 and looked good but this was the first time our reviewer had butterfish and she didn't know that it would be such a transparent fish (pronounced: slimy, and what one would assume is undercooked). To be safe, we asked the server who confirmed that butterfish is like that so everything was normal. Unfortunately, on the first small bite alone we counted 4 bones (ranging from large and deadly to small and deadly) and the second bite yielded almost as many. We called the server over again to ask if this is normal and she said it was, which seems odd and I can't imagine why anyone would want to eat a fish like this.

At this point, the server could see we were less than thrilled with the entree and then asked if we had ever had butterfish before (which we hadn't). She then offered to swap it out for something else, suggesting a mahi-mahi they had, and so we agreed. She warned that it might take 10 minutes but less than a minute later she appeared with the new dish through some kitchen magic (clearly somebody else was now waiting 9 more minutes for their mahi-mahi!).

We are happy to report the mahi-mahi was delicious and even the manager came around to make sure we were happy. The important thing is that the service is perfect here and they were willing to take a hit on a $26 meal just because it turned out to be something we didn't like. That's how you create customer loyalty and for that reason alone we will be back here many times in the future. Fortunately, the food is really good as well!

The only real complaints are that the prices on some items are a bit high for the amount of food you get, though not terribly high as they clearly serve quality food. Still, $3-$4 beverages are a little on the high side and the place really could use some updating. It's very close to a 5 star rating and we highly recommend you give Kincaid's a try.
