Waihou Spring Trail is a 0.7 mile long (one way, 1.4 mile round trip), out and back style hiking trail located in the Makawao area of Maui.
Your total hike is only about 1.4 miles round trip and most consider this hike to be easy to moderate in terms of difficulty. The early parts of the trail are easiest while some of the later parts can get slippery and more difficult. Before attempting any hike, be sure to read up on Hiking Safety & Essentials.
The hike starts up high in Maui's upcountry at around 3,800 feet above sea level. During the trail you'll climb as high as 3,900 feet and dip down to about 3,500 feet. With only a 400 foot (or so) elevation gain things don't get too difficult for most hikers.
At the end of the trail is Waihou Spring as well as lava tubes and you may even spot a waterfall. It's possible that the trail to the springs at the end may be closed or difficult.
The above map shows the route you can take, including where you'll have the option to fork one way or the other.
