The Maunawili Ditch Trail is a 2.75 mile long (each way), out and back style hiking trail in the Waimanalo area of O'ahu.
This short trail has elevation gains of around 200 feet and is considered by most hikers to be a relatively easy hike and offers some amazing views of Oahu's windward side.
This is also a popular trail with horseback riders. The Maunawili Ditch Trail parallels the old Kailua Ditch that was built back in the 1920s and used to carry water from the Kawainui Swamp to the canefields of the Waimanalo Sugar Company.
The end of the Maunawili Ditch Trail connects to the midpoint of the Maunawili-Waimanalo Road Trail. If you then turn right and follow the Maunawili-Waimanalo Road Trail you'll connect to the Maunawili Falls Trail. Or you can simply turn around at the end and head back to where you parked. As with any hike, be sure to bring plenty of water and read Hiking Safety & Essentials before heading out.
