We visited here on our first trip to the Big Island. We took a tour of the National Park and even took some time to look around the visitors center. As I remember the employees were very helpful and would answer what ever questions you had for them. The gift shop was of course a stop that we had to make and another t shirt went home in my bag.

The Kilauea Visitor Center was a great first stop to gather information and to plan out your day. The Rangers and staff at the center are very friendly and knowledgeable and can help with any questions you may have. It doesn't take that much time out of your visit but I would highly recommend it.

When you enter the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park it's good to stop by the Kilauea Visitor Center first. The outer area of the center has lots of informational maps and a great place to map out your hike. They also have a big restroom. Inside of the center there are Rangers if you have any questions and also maps and brochures you can take with you. There is a theatre in the center which shows informational videos every half an hour.

It is a very quick and small walk through. This is something for those that live and breathe volcanos. But it has awesome night time views of the crater if it is live.

Visitor center was amazing and full of all kinds of information. Watched the video which was very interesting on the history of the volcano and past lava flows etc. The displays were so informational and the rangers that were in the visitor center were also knowledgeable and helped in pointing you in the right direction for the amount of time you had in the park. Parts of the park were closed while we were there but still very worth the stop.

This is an essential first stop when entering Volcanoes National Park. The park is huge, and the visitors center is there to give you some guidance for your visit. On our first trip, we only wanted to stay 3 hours. The ranger made some suggestions of places to see that fit into our schedule. We talked to some other peopled who want to do multi-day excursions and hike the trails surrounding Kilauea. The visitor's center dials you in on how to customize your trip.

On our last trip, we went to the park later in the afternoon to see the Kalapana Lava Flow. I had a lot of questions and the ranger spelled out all of the viewing options. He was bombarded with multiple questions from a couple dozen people, yet remained friendly and more than willing to provide answers.

The visitor's center is a place you won't stay long, but it will definitely help you get your bearings and so you can make best use of your time.
