Matt Anderson's Take
A fun and healthy sandwich shop. There are 2 locations - Kaimuki and Haleiwa. Ingredients are almost all locally sourced in Hawaii. They try to use organic products whenever possible. In an environmentally conscious move, they don't use styrofoam for boxing up sandwiches. All take away products are compostable & made from renewable resources.

If you're looking for something that tastes good without being greasy or weighing you down later, this is the place to go. Their sandwiches are incredibly yummy but also just tasty fresh and really feel like a healthy alternative to the heavy meals we were eating all week.

I've only been to the Haleiwa location, but this place is amazing!!! Like others have said, it's a bit on the pricey side, but the quality is worth it! I'm obsessed with the tuna sandwich... very little may add jalapeno for some added flavor. And the bread is always amazing! I've also tried the turkey sandwich with brie which was also delicious, but the tuna is still my favorite. Everyone that works there is super nice and friendly... and if you bring your dog, they give you the ends of the turkey meat :-)

Great little find in Kaimuki. I was walking down Koko Head Ave when 2 girls standing outside Sprout Sandwich Shop flagged me in to give it a try. It didn't take much arm-twisting to get me in the door. I was concerned about a nut allergy which can be hidden in some sauces, but they assured me I was safe after confirming with the prep cook. Sprout Sandwich Shop is small and quaint, with a healthy organic vibe. Food is ordered at the counter and there are about 4 stools to sit on by the window. There are also a couple tables outside. The ambiance is mellow with fun island music playing in the background. The staff seemed to enjoy their job as they were grooving to the music while preparing the sandwiches.

I ordered, "The Duke" which is fresh oven roasted turkey, hickory smoked bacon, Maui butter lettuce, locally grown tomatoes, house pickled red onions, and mayo. It was served on a ciabatta bread. I also ordered a fresh lemonade.

The sandwich was delicious. The oven roasted turkey was thick and tender - they don't skimp on the meat. The bacon was tasty, and the vegetables fresh tasting. Each bite was better than the last. The pickled red onions added a sweetness that wonderfully complemented the turkey and other vegetables. I scarfed it down quick. The sandwich portion was fine, but it was so dang good. I thought about ordering another, but my better judgement held me back.

The sandwich was $9.50 and the lemonade was $4.00. So the total was about $14 bucks with tax. For a sandwich and a drink, I think it's a bit on the pricey side. That said, I'm always willing to pay more for quality. Glad the girls waved me in - I've found a new go-to place for sandwiches on Oahu.
