Originally opened in 1935 by Taisuke and Katsuko Sekiya as an okazuya ("Okazu" means side dish - "Ya" means shop). They soon began to offer saimin, miso soup, and Japanese main dishes. The food here is still made the way it was made in the 1950's. Many customers have been coming here for decades. The restaurant is still operated by the Sekiya family.
