I'll admit to not being a dessert fanatic but I can certainly appreciate an occasional sweet item like ice cream. I can also tell that Bubbies makes good ice cream, but I wouldn't call it great. In fact, it's just normal ice cream to me. That's not a bad thing, but there's a lot of hype surrounding this place so I expected more.

See, at 7pm at night there was a line out the door. Oh, and keep that door closed like the sign says and continue waiting outside or the girls behind the counter WILL yell at you. I watch somebody else make that mistake and instantly had a Seinfeld Soup Nazi flashback. By 7:30pm when we left, the line was out the door and running down the side of the building. For ice cream! Unbelievable! They must make the best ice cream this world has ever seen.

Only, they don't. It's just ice cream and tastes the same as most other ice cream places regardless of their chain or boutique status. I went for their mochi ice cream because I'm a fan of that. For just over $1 you get a small ball of ice cream wrapped in mochi. I went for the Sakura flavor which is Japanese Cherry Blossom. Just a fancy word for cherry.

I expected a cherry flavored mochi wrapped around a cherry flavored ice cream. What I got was vanilla ice cream wrapped in pink mochi that had virtually no flavor at all. Every now and then I got the tiniest hint of cherry, but otherwise it was boring vanilla. Well, now I know. It was also rock hard so better if you let it warm up.

For a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids) who got 1 mochi and 3 cones with a total of 4 ice cream scoops I was out over $14. Pricey! I expect others to disagree with this review but I'm just not impressed.

Side note, if you bring kids in here you should know that some of the menu items have sexually suggestive names. For example, multiple orgasms, keep it up all night, eat my balls, and so on. Doesn't bother me but I am sure there are those out there that would prefer their 4 year doesn't ask for multiple orgasms while their 6 year old tells you to eat my balls. I'm all for filthy humor, but maybe not around my food. Just saying.
