Lili'uokalani Botanical Garden is a small park and garden in Honolulu in the heart of the Kalihi neighborhood, just outside of Waikiki (see Waikiki Guide). The area is surrounded by apartments but also a hidden treasure for those needing a tropical escape.

Running right through the middle of the garden is the Nu'uanu Stream which also creates a small, natural waterfall along its path. Huge trees created a nice, shady canopy over the stream and lawn. A very short walk along a paved path that takes you through the garden and to the waterfall.

It's a small oasis in an otherwise densely populated area. Grab a lunch or something to drink and enjoy it at one of the picnic tables or just on the lawn. The various trees and plants are labeled with the names of the different species. The parking lot can handle about 15 or so cars so it's never really crowded here. In fact, you may have it to yourself.

Looking for a place to relax and unwind in nature? Or maybe a place to pause with lunch or some snacks? Either way, Lili'uokalani Botanical Garden is a great place to stop.
