Amelia Earhart Lookout is a beautiful lookout near Diamond Head State Monument and overlooking the clear blue water where Amelia Earhart gained reputation as the first person to solo flight from Hawaii to North America.

Finding the Amelia Earhart Lookout is easy as it's located about 5 minutes outside Waikiki (see Waikiki Guide) toward Diamond Head Beach Park & Kuilei Cliffs, see our map page for exact location. The view overlooks the surfers who hit the waves at one of Oahu's most legendary surf spots.

In 1934, Amelia Earhart entered the history books as the first person to fly solo from Hawaii to the Mainland. She departed from Wheeler AFB on O'ahu and landed in Oakland, California 18 hours later. This lookout was named after her as legend has it that Earhart flew by Diamond Head Crater before heading off to North America. Of course, Earhart was also already famous for crossing the Atlantic in 1932.
