The Honolulu Festival is a cultural event held in Honolulu once a year to promote the understanding, economic cooperation, and ethnic harmony between the people of Hawaii and the Pacific Rim region.
The Festival draws thousands of spectators throughout Asia and the US who are looking for an experience beyond traditional Hawaiian activities. The festival shares a rich and vibrant blend of Asia, Pacific and Hawaiian cultures. The three day event occurs every year in March on a weekend from Friday through Sunday.
There are dance performances and traditional demonstrations by artisans from Japan, Australia, Tahiti, Philippines, Taiwan, Korea, Hawaii, and the rest of the United States. The Festival concludes with a great parade down Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki (see Waikiki Guide). Activities are held throughout Honolulu at locations easily accessible to residents and visitors alike. Best of all, admission to all Festival events is free.
The theme of the Festival is "Pacific Harmony,” withs hopes that it will deepen the friendship of our countries and contribute to world peace.
