Nice for camping. Long, shallow reef means it's not so great for swimming.

Hau'ula Beach Park is a narrow strip of beach with amenities for camping and picnicking. It's reefy, so wear your water shoes or fins if you plan on snorkeling here. The water can be rough during winter months, so use good judgement and don't go in if conditions aren't calm.
There is a less reefy and more beachy place to swim and snorkel on the north part of the beach. Most of the other parts make water entry difficult.
If you plan to pitch a tent, you'll need to make your reservations in advance. There are 15 camp sites and a sheltered structure to run off to if it starts raining. The beach park has a nice grassy area to relax and enjoy looking at the ocean.
Hau'ula Beach Park is nicely maintained place to eat that plate lunch you picked up in Laie, and enjoy a Hawaiian moment while you contemplate Hawaii Living: Moving To Hawaii.
