Makao Beach is located in Hauula on the northern side of Oahu's east coast. This beach isn't visited by many people so don't expect to see any crowds over here. It does get used by locals who come to fish or maybe go out for some snorkeling but that's about it.
What you will see is traffic, just steps away from the beach. The beach is located roadside along the busy Kamehameha Highway which makes a less than ideal beach even less inviting.
There is a ten foot wide stretch of sand running parallel to the main road and a reef at the water's edge going out. There are a few man-made steps leading down to this very narrow beach.
The parking situation is pretty bad, so you'll need to park your car (legally) across the road in front of some houses. On the positive side, it's clean with beautiful views but really, it's not much of a beach.
