Not to be confused with impressive Punalu'u Black Sand Beach Park on the big island, this Punalu'u Beach Park is a simple little stop on your way around the island of Oahu. It is located on the windward coast a few steps away from your car on Kamehameha Highway.
It's a three acre beach park with clean restrooms, a shower, picnic bench and a narrow sandy beach. However, the reef here is shallow, so it's not ideal for swimming.
Since the beach is just off they highway, there is a lot of road noise. So it's not exactly what you would call serene. However, there are a few trees here, and the scenery is pretty.
If you're a fisherman, this beach can be pretty fun. The locals catch octopus which is interesting to observe and delicious to eat. For most, however, Punalu'u Beach isn't really a place to stop for any length of time.
