Maunalua Bay Beach Park is located near the southeast tip of Oahu, in the Hawaii Kai neighborhood. While there are sandy beach areas at Maunalua Bay, it isn't really what we would call a desirable beach.
It's mainly used for launching boats via the double boat ramps it offers and so the huge parking lot can get quite crowded with the boat crowd on weekends.
There are places here where you can access the ocean for a swim but if you want to play in the ocean without a watercraft then you can do much better than this beach. In most cases, beaches where boats launch don't have the cleanest water and this one is no exception. It's not gross or dirty, but not at all inviting.
