Great hidden beach with clear and often calm waters.

Features
• Sand Type: Regular • Parking: Street only • Good For: Snorkeling

Kahala Beach is a well hidden beach because it's behind a long string of houses with fences and gates which makes it difficult to find and get to until you know where the beach access is. Also, don't confuse Kahala Beach with Wai'alae Beach Park which is the beach located behind the The Kahala Hotel & Resort.

If you are heading east on Kahala Avenue (which was Diamond Head Road closer to Diamond Head State Monument) you can turn left on Kala Place and park along Kala Place (where allowed, don't block driveways, etc). Cross Kahala Avenue and just a little to your left will be an opening in the endless line of walls and fencing along with a blue beach access sign.

Follow that sign and sandy path towards the ocean and you'll arrive at a nice little hidden gem of a beach. You'll find very clear and calm waters (assuming the ocean is generally calm overall). A lot of the area in the water has a rocky bottom but you'll spot a few very obvious areas where you can swim, snorkel, and generally play around.

This beach extends further to the northeast and you'll find a lot more sand that way but accessing those portions requires some swimming or a half mile walk from Wai'alae Beach Park which is further east.

This beach is likely to be empty or nearly empty as it is used mainly by those in the houses along this area. What you won't find here are any facilities of any kind but it's still a really neat hidden beach that you may get to enjoy all by yourself.
