Clear blue waters and a great view. Difficult water access makes it less than ideal.

Mauna Lahilahi Beach Park is an odd but surprising beach. It's odd because it's located right off the Farrington Highway and is so close that you walk from sidewalk right into sand for a large part of it.

There is also no beach parking here so you have to park on the side side streets, but there is plenty of places to choose from.

I say it's a surprising beach because you wouldn't expect much of a beach here and yet it's pretty decent in a lot of ways. The sand is nice, the water is clear and blue, it has facilities, it's usually empty, and it has great views of the ocean with a lovely mini-mountain (pronounced: hill) on the north side. It's quite peaceful really.

The shoreline is rocky in a lot of places but you can enter the water right behind the bus stop shelter which is right where Makaha Valley Road intersects with the Farrington.

So, it's not exactly ideal for swimming but good enough if you need to cool off after some time of enjoying the beach in the hot sun all by yourself. Just remember that there is no lifeguard here.
