Surf N Salsa - Restaurants On Oahu Haleiwa, Hawaii

Surf N Salsa (formerly Surfin' Salsa) is a food truck that is located next to a gas station and serves up authentic Mexican style food. I'm not the type of who gets excited over food trucks, I don't understand the appeal, but a food truck is certainly capable of offering cheap and delicious food so I gave it a try.

I tried a burrito with shredded chicken, rice, beans, sour cream, and guacamole in it along with a single steak taco with onions and cilantro. The burrito was a good size and delicious. Tender, tasty, and filling even if it was pretty messy.

The taco was excellent as well and the steak was really tender with no funky, fatty bits to be found. The soft corn tortilla was oddly delicious and didn't seem store bought.

Since we "ate in" (they have a very tiny and shaded seating area) they included chips and salsa for free. The prices are very reasonable here with a chimi plate (with rice and beans), burrito, tacos, and two cans of soda costing around $26. A bargain by Hawaii standards even if I was sitting feet away from a noisy street and people fueling up their vehicles.

So we have tasty food, great prices, and super friendly staff / owners. What's not to like? If I had to nitpick I'd point out that the rice and beans are really bland (good in a burrito, bland by themselves) and that you don't get many chips with the free chips and salsa. I'd also mention that the parking situation here is terrible with a packed gas station lot and very few spaces (though you can park at the nearby shopping center and walk a walk back).

All very, very minor issues and none that will stop me from going back as often as I can.
