Wawaloli Beach Park is located just south of the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA), so you'll certainly see and hear aircraft coming and going. What you probably won't see a lot of are tourists as this tends to be more of a local beach.

It's an excellent spot to hang out, relax, and watch the sunset. It's also very easy access with a large parking, showers, and even bathrooms.

There is plenty of sand here and the water is well protected from the open ocean. It's basically one huge tide pool during high tide. During low tide it is made up of many smaller tide pools.

It's a fun place to check out and, because it's so protected, it can be a good place for kids to play in the water. That doesn't mean it always is, but more often than not it's fairly safe. Some areas get pretty rocky so it's not always a great place to swim.

The facilities here are provided by Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (NELHA) and the Hawaii Ocean Science and Technology (HOST) Park. It's pretty decent for what it is, but not really the best beach in the area.
