Waiolena Beach Park doesn't offer any type of sandy beach area, just rocky shoreline. Because of that and the danger of strong currents, swimming is not recommended here.
It can be a great place to hang out and enjoy the beautiful ocean views or even to have a picnic. A few covered picnic pavilions are available.
Waiolena Beach Park is more of a locals hangout so it can get busy here, especially on weekends. There is a small parking lot but if it is busy then expect it to be full.
Overall you can do much better than this beach park, try Carlsmith Beach Park which is just down the road and a much better beach overall.
