The Poli‘ahu Heiau can be seen on the bluff above the Wailua River near the overlook for Opaeka'a Falls. It is one of 7 heiau along the Wailua River. It is thought to have been built in the 1600's but perhaps may be older. The rocks were carried up from the river to create the structure. It was crafted by ancient rock wall builders without the use of morter. Poli‘ahu Heiau is maintained by the Hawaii State Parks System.
