Looking for a quick and cheap place for breakfast in the Ko'Olina and Kapolei area? Then look no further because KOA Pancake House (just one of several locations) is a great option. They serve pancakes, waffles, eggs, and the usual breakfast items. For lunch they have burgers and sandwiches mostly.

The breakfast items we sampled were surprisingly good compared to what we were expecting because this place is a bit of a dive. It's located in a strip mall near the Safeway grocery store in Kapolei so it's not a scary place by any means, just a bit run down or maybe just over used and due for some updating. The pancakes and waffles were perfectly made and fluffy and not at all dried out. All of the items we ordered were cooked just right.

The zillions of locals (and tourists) inside confirm our thoughts on the food as well. Of course, the place is also pretty tiny so that means tables fill up fast and you may be left without a place to eat so getting your food to-go is a good option when that happens. There are a few tables outside as well, but keep in mind that outside means sitting right next to the parking lot.

You order at the counter and then they'll bring the food out to you when it is ready and while the lady who took our order was nice and friendly, the younger girl who delivered our food didn't seem too happy. Even as we thanked her for bringing the food she just ignored us, turned around, and walked away. Not exactly service with a smile so that needs some work here but it's a minor complaint really.

The prices are quite cheap here as well with a big blueberry waffle running a cheap $4.75 and the largest of sodas was under $2.00. Need a bigger meal? Try the corn beef hash with two eggs and a large triple stack of macadamia nut pancakes (tasty!) for $8.50. I've had glasses of orange juice in hotels that cost more than that so when you factor in the Hawaiian paradise tax you'll realize just how cheap that is.

We highly recommend you give this place a try if you want something better than McDonalds for breakfast without breaking the bank.
