Kahalu'u Beach is a great place for snorkeling with a huge variety of marine life to view, including sea turtles. It is protected by a partially submerged rock wall that keeps out large waves and stronger currents so it can be well protected from the open ocean and a safe place to snorkel.

The reef makes water entry difficult in most places, but talk with the lifeguard and they'll show you the best route to get into the water which is near the southwest side of the beach.

So while this is a great place for snorkeling, it's not as great when it comes to being a sandy beach to hang out on because the sand here is really rocky. So if you're not coming to snorkel then there are better beaches you can find than this one.

This place does pack in the crowds with both visitors and locals alike so if you're coming out then you'll have the best experience if you arrive earlier in the day. It also gets crowded for sunset viewings as well.

The Kahalu'u Snack Wagon food truck is often around here so you can grab some snacks, a quick lunch, or shave ice.
