Matt Anderson's Take
Located about 8 miles south of the Kona airport is where you will find the Kona Brewing Company and the attached restaurant. First off, your GPS is likely to bring you to the general area just fine but will more than likely lead you into a parking lot where you cannot park for the restaurant.

Instead, from the airport follow the Queen Kaahumanu Highway (HI-19) and turn makai (right, towards the ocean) onto Palani Road and then make another right on Kuakini Road just as directed by your GPS. Do NOT make another right into the first parking lot entrance as your GPS says, that's where you'll go wrong.

Continue along Kuakini Road until your come to the first real street intersection which will be Kona Bay Drive and take a right. Turn right at the next street, about a block away, which will be Pawai Place. Drive all the way to the end and this road will dead end right into the real parking lot. Sounds more confusing than it is but it's the only way to get there.

Once there you'll enjoy some tasty pizzas, sandwiches, and even tacos (pork, fish, shrimp). We sampled quite a few items here and it was all delicious with an especially tasty Porterhouse Dip sandwich. Of course, it is a brewery as well so there are plenty of tasty handcrafted beers to sample as well.

Service was friendly, though fairly slow but we would highly recommend the Kona Brewing Company.

The atmosphere was great. Lots of people enjoying some good food and great tasting beer. Everyone was really friendly and helpful on suggesting a great food choice. Service was good and prices not to bad. We ran out of time for the brewery tour but it will be a definite stop on our next trip.

A great choice of beers and pupus. My friends and I had a great night out here. I tried a couple of new brews and the staff were knowledgeable about the beers. The pupus were really tasty and imaginative too and we had a few between us to share. The bar has a nice ambience and I would definitely visit again when in Kona.

This was hubby's "must-do" restaurant on our trip to Kona because he's a fan of their beer. : )
Located in a nondescript warehouse section of town, there's no scenery or ambiance to speak of. The outdoor seating is cheerful with bright red patio umbrellas to shade the sun, but it does get hot nonetheless as the fenced in patio area receives no breeze to speak of. The indoor area gets loud and a little hectic.

Seating was immediate for lunch without a reservation, and service was friendly and good, though not impeccable. There were a couple of times we wondered if our waitress had forgotten about us, but given that we were on vacation and just going with the flow, it didn't bother us too much.

Pawai Pepperoni rolls received outstanding reviews from our normally picky kids. Our appetizers of Island mixed green salad and a Strawberry Spinach salad featured fresh ingredients of good quality - a bit on the mundane side. The standouts for us were the two spicy pizzas we had- the Pahoehoe Spicy Chicken and the Pele's Own. Just delicious!! We love spicy food (obviously) and couldn't decide between the two of us which of the two we liked better. Perfect crusts, perfect balance of flavors. Washed down with some Hula Hef and Lemongrass Luau, it made for a great lunch.

We also liked the retail counter where we purchased some pretty awesome Kona Brewing Company apparel.

If you like sweeter beers you have to try the Wailua Wheat. The flavor is just amazing! Besides selling beer at the Kona Brewing Company, they also serve food. Their Pizza's are really good and my favorite salad is the Strawberry Spinach Salad. It comes with a very tasty vinaigrette.

Fantastic! Great place to eat and drink and just sit back and share some laughs with the family. We hit this place up every year that we are in Kona! I can even get their beer back on the mainland and prefer it over a lot of others. I am going to try to get to the tour of the brewery this year when we are there. Highly recommended!

We came here for beer and pupus. We waited a few minutes to be seated, the place was busy but service was good. We had chicken wings, which were delicious, and the beer was cold and not too expensive. My husband picked up a nice t-shirt. We will be back!
