Verde is in the Kaimuki neighborhood of Honolulu. They serve Mexican food but it feels more like fresh-Mex than classic Mexican. It's not a Chipotle replacement, but has that sort of "fresh", not greasy, feel to it.
The menu is simple and consists of burritos, nachos, tacos, and quesadillas. Choose from chicken (adobo or seasoned), barbacoa (beef), steak, pork (al pastor), veggie, or soyrizo (veggie sausage).
They also serve breakfast burritos, tacos, and huevos rancheros. Verde serves breakfast all day, so no rush.
The staff was friendly and answered questions we had. The food came out fast and was tasty. I tried a chicken adobo taco which was quite good. I also ordered a burrito with shredded beef (barbacoa) which was excellent. They include rice, beens, cheese, pico de gallo, lettuce, and salsa. Delicious!
The standard burrito is quite large and a good value at $7.50. Some toppings, like the barbacoa, add $1. Still a good value for the size and quality.
I'll be back for sure.
