We love the Taco Del Mar chain of Mexican food restaurants and find that they're light years beyond anything like a Taco Bell.

Taco Del Mar is a fast food chain of Mexican style restaurants and while you might be ready to judge it as a Taco Bell clone the truth is that it is so much better than that.
Sure, it has all of the usual Taco Bell menu items like tacos and burritos so they're not reinventing the Mexican wheel by any means but the quality of the food and overall taste is just so much better. The meat options here are really tasty, as are the beans (pinto, black, or refried).
You can actually have a good shot at having a fairly healthy meal if you wanted as well, though I'll stick with the biggest burrito known to man with extra meat, liquid cheese, and some enchilada sauce on top. The service here was very good and friendly and the restaurant feels very clean.
If you are looking for a quick meal that is close to the Kona airport then this is probably one of the best choices around. It is fast food, make no mistake about it, but it's truly delicious fast food and one we highly recommend for a quick bite at cheap prices.
All Taco Del Mar locations seem to suffer from the same problem which is portion sizes that are a little too careful measured so you do feel a little nickle-and-dimed here.
