Hanamaulu Restaurant Tea House And Sushi Bar - Restaurants On Kauai Hanamaulu, Hawaii

On a recent trip to Kauai, my wife and I were looking for something other than a plate lunch, but we didn't want to go to a hotel restaurant. It was also Sunday evening, and a lot of places close early on Sunday. The Hanamaulu Restaurant Tea House and Sushi Bar was open so we thought we'd give it a try.

It reminded me of a restaurant that's trying to cater to as many people as it can grab. There was a Japanese look to the place, yet the smell and food was dominantly Chinese. There were local families enjoying the buffet, which had a various selection of fried foods, salads, rice, pasta, and desserts. I joined them in the buffet.

The food was ok. The teriyaki chicken was ok. The poke was ok. the desserts were ok. Nothing blew my socks off, but what the heck - it wasn't a plate lunch place, I was hungry, and I liked environment. There's a koi pond outside, and asian type interior (sort of Chinese, sort of Japanese).

My fondest memory of the Hanamaulu Restaurant Tea House and Sushi Bar was listening to the local families enjoying each other's company. Laughing and digging into the buffet with big helpings local style!!

For Kauai with limited eating options in the Hanamaulu area, it's ok.
