Currently Tropical Storm Erick, this one is expected to reach hurricane status any time today. Maximum sustained winds are at 60 MPH with gusts at 86 MPH. Current location is 1186 mile east-southeast of Hilo on the Big Island and moving west at 15 MPH towards the islands. Erick is expected to become a Category 3 Hurricane over the next few days and then, hopefully, slow back down before reaching the islands in a week or so. We'll keep a close eye on this one!

Hurricane Erick is now at Category 4 status with maximum sustained winds at 115 MPH and gusts at 144 MPH. The hurricane is over 800 miles east-southeast of Hilo on the Big Island and moving west at 15 MPH towards the islands. Current forecast cones suggest the hurricane will slow to Tropical Storm levels as it approaches the islands and likely pass a bit to the south of us.

Erick reached Category 4 levels last night but today slowed to Category 3 level with maximum sustained winds at 121 MPH and gusts of 150 MPH. Erick is 575 miles southeast of Hilo and moving west at 11 MPH. The hurricane is expected to slow further over the next few days as it approaches the islands and will likely pass south of us, though it is still expected to bring rain to the state next week.

Hurricane Erick is currently at Category 1 status with maximum sustained winds at 86 MPH and gusts around 104 MPH. It is currently located 266 miles south-southeast of Hilo on the Big Island and moving west-northwest at 12 MPH. Current forecasts suggest the hurricane will continue slowing and turn into a Tropical Storm by tomorrow. Erick should pass south of the islands but is expect to bring rain and high surf.
