Got a hankering for a tasty burger on Oahu? Then check out this list of the best burgers on Oahu, Hawaii.

It's fun to come to a new place and try the local cuisine or simply expand your culinary horizons with something new. But every now and then you just need something familiar like a burger.

The typical fast food joints have their place in our lives, but they don't have any place on our list. We want the best of the best only. We only want real burgers made with real meat. This list isn't for those tree-hugging, veggie-burger-loving hippies. Embrace your inner carnivore with our list of best places (in no particular order) to get a cheeseburger on Oahu, Hawaii.

Teddy's Bigger Burgers

You'll find several Teddy's locations all over Oahu but most are very much the same experience, and that's a good thing! They have all sorts of fun burger varieties or get it made any way you want. My favorite? The Western Burger with onion rings and BBQ sauce or the Kilauea Burger which is similar but substitutes BBQ for spicy sauce. Regardless of what you choose, grab some Tater Tots with chili and cheese on top. Now that's how you treat yourself! Find a Teddy's on Oahu

La Tour Cafe

La Tour Cafe isn't really a place you'd think of as a burger joint. In fact, burgers are just one of many different items on their menu. So what makes their burger so special? For starters, they use Wagyu Beef which (in theory) is an upscale beef that should be juicy and flavorful, which it is. On top of that you can get it with cheese, bacon, jalapenos, and a tangy sauce which makes it fairly unique in the world of burgers, not to mention incredibly delicious. Find a La Tour Cafe on Oahu

Kua 'Aina

Kua Aina is another popular Oahu burger place. Their burger menu is pretty basic and limited but really has all that any burger lover really needs. The meat and ingredients are excellent but the buns, which are more like bakery rolls, sort of steal the show for me. My go to cheeseburger here is the Ortega Burger which adds pepper jack cheese and Ortega Chiles. Yum. Find a Kua Aina on Oahu

The Alley Restaurant Bar & Grill

The Alley Restaurant is an oddity all by itself simply because it's a restaurant inside a bowling alley, complete with the sound of strikes and spares crashing in the background. But it's not a typical bowling alley eatery by any means. It has some serious chef power behind it and has been featured on shows like "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" as well as "Man v. Food". So what about their burger? This one is a classic diner style burger, but done really well. Nothing fancy to it, just a great and simple cheeseburger that tastes great. Haleiwa Beach House

What do you get when you combine Wagyu beef, white cheddar cheese, and caramelized onions all on a soft taro bun? An incredible burger fit for kings. Toss in a world class ocean view and you'll be dining like a god. If it's a burger you're after then give the new Haleiwa Beach House restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed. Honolulu Burger Co.

With a name like Honolulu Burger Co, you know that this place is all about the burgers. They're big on using grass-fed, free-range beef that comes from Hawaii's Big Island. As if that wasn't good enough, they also use for locally grown produce and locally baked breads. They have a variety of burgers and toppings, something for everyone. More at: Honolulu Burger Co.

Downbeat Diner and Lounge

Though not just a burger joint, Downbeat Diner and Lounge has a pretty large burger section on their menu. Each one is made with Big Island beef and various toppings. The Teriyaki Burger and the Western Burger as crowd favorites.

sadfasdfsadf

Pint + Jigger is a bar and restaurant that brings in plenty of thirsty folks looking for a good drink and some decent eats. Though the menu is anything but typical bar food, the burger to get here is The Pint + Jigger Stout Burger. It's served with beer cheese, yes, beer cheese, as well as a garlic aioli and some veggies. Add some bacon, avocado, caramelized onions, or fried onions (because, well, why wouldn't you!) for an extra fee and you're in burger heaven. Wash it all down with one of the 20 or so beers they have on tap. More at: sadfasdfsadf

EAT Honolulu

Sometimes when a restaurant offers "fancy", "upscale", or "gourmet" burgers it doesn't work out. At EAT Honolulu, it works very well. Sure, you can get a classic burger with cheese (or even with their homemade mozzarella), but you can also add some pretty odd toppings like Sugar Spice Bacon or a locally sourced egg. The adventurous types will want to try the Surf & Turf Burger which comes with a normal beef patty that is topped with crispy soft shell crab, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, and a chili aioli. Wow. Gourmet indeed. More at: EAT Honolulu

Livestock Tavern

With many amazing dishes to choose from, ordering a burger might be hard to do at the Livestock Tavern. But if you really need a burger then you won't be disappointed with the Tavern Burger. It comes with Bacon Onion Marmalade and Gruyere Cheese for a very unique burger experience. More at: Livestock Tavern

Mahaloha Burger

If you're in Honolulu then you'll find one Mahaloha Burger at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center while the other Mahaloha Burger is in Kailua (east side of Oahu). Either way, don't mistake the name for Mahalo Burger which doesn't exist. So what will you find at Mahaloha Burger? All natural, grass-fed beef that is always fresh and never frozen. What won't you find? Fillers, preservatives, antibiotics, or growth hormones. Refreshing, isn't it? The Avocado Swiss Burger is popular here but if you're looking for something with a little Hawaiian flair try the Loco Moco Burger that comes with Crispy Fried Onions, French Mayo, Gravy Sauce, and is topped off with a sunny side up Egg.
