Waipi'o Beach is located in the Waipi'o Valley area (city of Honokaa) on Hawaii's Big Island. This is a black sand beach but it's not the easiest to reach.
Getting here starts by heading over to the Waipio Valley Lookout and from there following the beginning of the Muliwai Trail To Waimanu Valley down to the beach. The hike isn't for everyone so make sure you read more about the Muliwai Trail To Waimanu Valley to see if it's right for you as the trail is steep and takes 30-45 minutes to hike down.
Swimming or otherwise playing in the water is not a good idea due to strong currents and riptides that form here. Those looking for more adventures will find waterfalls down in the valley and plenty of places to explore. Horseback and wagon tours are available in the Waipi'o Valley as well.
