Haena State Park is a wild-land park located in Haena at the end of the road (as you're heading west) on the north shore of Kaua'i. It's home to the amazing Ke'e Beach Park and the north end of the Kalalau Trail.
It's a pretty neat park with some ancient sea caves that were formed over 4000 years ago. Those would be the Waikanaloa & Waikapalae Wet Caves as well as the Maniniholo Dry Cave. Depending on your views of ancient lore, you'll either believe that Pele - The Volcano Goddess dug them out in her search for a new home or they were formed when ocean levels were higher. Personally, I like the Pele story better. Who doesn't want an awesome lair in an old volcano?
There are plenty of opportunities for great views here, even if you're not hiking the Kalalau Trail. Just hanging out at Ke'e Beach Park is a great way to spend a day. Of course, you won't be alone there as it's a popular beach. On that note, arrive early as the parking here fills up incredibly fast.
