Cocina - Restaurants On Oahu Honolulu, Hawaii

Cocina is a small counter service Taqueria in the Kaka'ako neighbor of Honolulu. They serve Mexican style food but it's all very fresh rather than heavy, classic style Mexican food. The menu consists mostly of tacos and burritos that come with a variety of different meats and fillings.

I ordered up their Beer Braised Beef burrito which comes stuffed with tender shredded beef as well as a chicken taco. The burrito was $8 plus another $2 for some liquid cheese dumped on top (which was lovely). The burrito was excellent and flavorful and a good size. The chicken taco was $3 and quite tiny but I loved the mole sauce on the chicken. Excellent all around.

The chips and salsa here are outstanding but quite pricey at $4 for a tiny tub of chips. If I was going to nitpick Cocina it would be on the prices. Some things start out reasonable (for Hawaii) but if you're not careful you can spend quite a bit here. If you exercise some restraint it's fairly reasonable.

Overall I loved it here and already want to go back (just hours later). And be back I will. Soon.

Their last day at this location is March 19, 2016. They are moving to a new location that will be opening summer 2016.
