Kalaupapa, Hawaii

Kalaupapa is located on the northern most peninsula of Molokai. It's name means "Flat Leaf" in Hawaiian. The village is located at the base of some of the highest cliffs in the world.

Kalaupapa was a fishing village that ended up being the current location of the last surviving Leprosy patients. Originally people suffering from Hansen's Disease were exiled here by King Kamehameha V back in the late 1800's.

The community is now part of the Kalaupapa National Historical Park.
