Kailua, Hawaii

Kailua is located on the east shore of Oahu. It's name means "two currents" or "two seas". It was named that because of the two lagoons in the area, or the two currents that run through Kailua Bay.

Some attractions that can be found here are Kailua Beach Park, Lanikai Beach, Kawai Nui Regional Park, Lanikai Pillbox Hike / Kaiwa Ridge Trail, and Maunawili Falls Trail.

Kailua was a small town before WWII. Kaneohe Ranch used to operate a cattle ranch on this land, the ranch sold some of it's property to the government to expand its Naval Air base, now known as Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

Many Kailua residents are upset that their town is now overrun with tourists, they want the Hawaii Visitors Convention Bureau to stop promoting Kailua to tourists.
