The acai bowls are very good when prepared with fresh fruit, but their puree'd frozen mango tasted bad.

Choice Health Bar is located on the Mauka side of the main road outside Lahaina. We ordered the Sunrise Acai Bowl and the Om Mango Acai Bowl. The Sunrise Bowl was very good. It had granola, fresh bananas, strawberries, honey and other ingredients. The acai was on the tart side, so it felt like I was eating a healthy breakfast rather than a sweet dessert.
We also ordered the The Om Mango Acai Bowl. I knew that mangos were not in season but I asked how ripe were the ones they had. They told us that when the mangos are in season that they puree and freeze them for use when mangos are not in season.
We should have known better and skipped this one. But we ordered it and it was awful. The mango was mixed with the acai and unfortunately it had a funky taste and smelled like old rotten fruit. We ended up eating all the fresh fruits and granola around it but left the acai mango part uneaten.
I really like this place - it had a nice new age vibe to it - just order bowls with fresh fruit - not pureed frozen fruit.
