Ma'ili Beach Park is a huge beach, well over a mile long. It has tons of grassy area, tons of sandy beach area, tons of parking area, and plenty of facilities. All the makings of a great beach.

This is a great place to have a picnic or party or go camping (a permit is required) or just hit the beach. It won't be very crowded during the week, and you wouldn't notice if it was because it's so large.

Weekends are a different story as this place can get packed with locals setting up party tents and BBQs as if they were moving in for a few weeks. It seems as though every bounce house on the island ends up here for weekend kids parties. Locals know how to have a good time!

This beach has a lifeguard, showers, and bathrooms and there have been a lot of improvements at Ma'ili Beach Park recently. They even have a playground area and some fitness equipment.

Overall, Ma'ili Beach Park is a great beach park but the beach and water just aren't as spectacular as they could be. If you look closely and a bit north on Google Maps or Google Earth you will find a sewage treatment plant and you can also see a very obviously manmade straight line heading from the treatment plant to the open ocean. As that line heads out it appears to take a 45 degree bend south towards Ma'ili Beach where you can't see it end (in deep water).

Assuming this is where they discharge the treated water then that might make Maili Beach less than desirable as well. Of course, any water sent into the ocean would be treated first (not raw sewage) but accidents happen everywhere so it's something to keep in mind.
