Makaha Beach Park is located along the Waianae coast on the west side of O'ahu. While it's not secrete to locals in the area, it's a beach that few tourists seem to know about.

Makaha Beach Park is a great place to come and watch some professional level surfing when the waves are big. That's also the time to stay out of the waters here. Just sit back and enjoy the show!

When the waves are more on the calm side, then this is a fun place to hop in the water and swim.

There can be some strong currents here so the best place for smaller people is often towards the northwest part of the beach, right in front of the lifeguard tower where the water is a bit more protected. Check with the lifeguard to see how safe the conditions are before going in, they're always happy to help.

This is a good size beach so there is plenty of sand to play in and it has some shady areas up by the tree line as well.

There is usually plenty of parking right by the sand or across the street in the parking lot (which is where you will also find bathrooms and showers). But if the waves are big then parking might be difficult to impossible because this place will really bring in the crowds.

Overall, this is one of the better Waianae coast beaches so be sure to check it out.
