Halona Beach Cove, or Eternity Beach as it's better known, is located just beyond (further east of) Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and Beach Park and Lana'i Lookout / Heaven's Point on O'ahu. Just keep driving along the Kalanianaole Highway (72) and you'll see a pull off area and parking lot.

It's a hugely popular spot with tourists and tour groups so while it has a good size parking area it can fill up if the place is busy as most people are coming here for Halona Blowhole and not the beach. If the waves are coming in good then chances are it will be busy because that's when the blow hole is doing its thing and shooting water into the air.

Some people come here for the amazing views while others seem to love watching the blow hole do its thing. We think the real beauty here is Halona Cove / Eternity Beach which is off to the right side of the lookout (when facing the ocean). You can get some amazing photos of it from above as well.

It's a bit of a hike to get down to the beach but the bigger issue is that this beach is officially off limits to the public. You'll certainly see people down there when you go to the blowhole, but the city has posted signs so you'll technically be trespassing if you go down. Because of that, we cannot recommend you visit this beach but you can view it from above.

So why can't you go down there? The waves get very rough at this beach and people have died here. Every now and then somebody will try to get close to the blowhole or gets swept off the rocks and sometimes they die. Because of the dangerous wave action and since there is no lifeguard here it's been marked as off limits.

If this pace looks familiar it's been shown in various movies and televisions shows. For example, the passionate kissing scene in the film "From Here to Eternity" was filmed at Eternity Beach. For more on that be sure to read Popular Movies & TV Shows Filmed In Hawaii.

Also nearby, if you stop along the road on the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve and Beach Park side of Halona Blowhole, is a small area to pull over your car and walk up a path to a small temple.
