Spencer Beach Park is a great little beach located in the town of Kamuela on the west side of Hawaii's Big Island. If you're staying in the Kailua-Kona it's just a short drive north to get here.

The beach has incredibly soft and powdery sand (even if the sand does have a lot of rocks in it). It also has nice and gentle waves (assuming the ocean is cooperating of course) and that makes it great for small kids. There are some shady areas as well.

This is a good spot to do some snorkeling and swimming when things are calm. There is good parking here and it has a lifeguard along with bathrooms, showers, as basketball court, and picnic tables. You can even camp here with a permit.

Overall, Spencer Beach Park is a fun little gem of a beach as long as you are there when it isn't too crowded.
