Mahukona Beach is located in the Hawi of Hawaii's Big Island but it isn't your typical sandy Hawaiian beach. In fact, there isn't a sandy beach here at all as this is an old harbor from a sugar company.

If you're looking to do some snorkeling then this is your place. Assuming the ocean is calm, the water here can be clear. Access into the water is easy via a ladder. Just remember that there is no lifeguard here so you are on your own.

You're likely to see plenty of fish around here which is always fun. What might be more interesting is the equipment the old company left behind that you'll find on the seafloor.

During the week this place isn't used much, so you may have it all to yourself at times but it will likely be a bit busier on weekends and holidays.
